Shadow Recovery Saturday

Yesterday, Shadow's teeth cleaning involved removing her two upper incisors, which had problems around the roots not unusual for a cat of 16 years. Otherwise she's in great condition. For about the next 2 weeks I have to monitor her diet - no crunchy food that might get under the stitches - and this means changes for the other cats as well. Also she gets medication twice daily. To offset this disruption I provide additional affection and attention; they'll be getting a lot more fish for a while, too.
I got my yoga/madfit/Khuri Abs routine in this morning and feel good about that.
I skipped all my Saturday possible meetings - both Zumba and Toastmasters - to attend a 34th District Democrats phoneback. It was actually enjoyable and I felt useful.
I got some steps in feeding the ducks as usual. Scott and Vanessa were hosting a pay-anything yard sale to raise funds for the school, so I spent all the cash I have on an advanced catbox igloo style, a nice metal coffee carafe, and another metal coffee sippy cup - you can't have too many of those!
I have been feeling lazy these past few days. It may be the heat, it may just be being on my own, it may be Arthur being more forward about awakening me at 2pm.

Mantis Friday

Today I took Shadow to the vet for her dental work. Since she had to fast after 9pm, everybody had to fast (except for Arthur who got a little milk, which Shadow disdains, and the others only under close supervision). You can imagine they were all alerting me in the morning that Something Is Wrong!
When I went to pick up Shadow around 5, there was an understandable wait. I strolled over to the little garden by the parking spot and saw, walking slowly into the parking garage and his doom, a golden preying mantis. "No, friend, you don't want to go here," I said, and set my cellphone as a ramp which it hopped on. I took it to a plant which it quickly latched onto and proceeded to pose.
I had a nice chat with Vanessa when she brought Shadow out.

Sour Berries

These blackberries are up too high to reach; I am sure they must be sour.

Linked In Old Pals

I got an email from LinkedIn asking to connect with a former law school classmate, Anita Conte (who I think I knew as Anita White). She's still in Massachusetts doing law, and it's nice to connect.
This is all at about the same time that Regina turned over the WPTL LinkedIn page to me, so I want to build the habit of posting frequently enough to be useful. We'll see.
I don't know why I didn't take any photos today; sometimes I get all wrapped up in the walk!

FEEST Day Tuesday

Today I delivered some lunches to students with the FEEST program. It was nice to get on the road again doing something useful.
Previously, we met at a grocery store and both food for the whole family. Now that classes have resumed (albeit remotely) our mission is to deliver prepared lunches to the students, since they aren't getting school lunches. It's all good - another way for our community to pull together.

I also had a nice email correspondence with my neighbor Charles, whose beloved cat Gladys passed away recently. It seems Ginny has come by to provide comfort. We have such a fine neighborhood!

Sunday Sleep In

Sunday I slept in, having stayed up late playing D+D online. I got a nice short walk in and photographed this determined flower.

I have tried to support my friend Reema the Zumba Instructor by posting a photo of me taking her class but it's difficult to take a picture of myself while dancing
