Apple Tree Tilt

We all have our tilts. We all lean this way or that; very few actually grow straight up like a drawing. But we can all be fruitful!
When my apple tree was younger, I figure the lean was just a temporary thing, but now I think it's a sunlight-maximizing strategy necessitated by that darn laurel coming over the fence. It will take a chainsaw to do something about that, but I'm thinking about it!

Meanwhile, today was started by taking Imp to the vet for her once-in-a-lifetime tooth cleaning. She was very worried, starting with not having food available. I spent most of the rest of the day noodling around, tinkering with my Toastmasters Area reports which are going slowly because I am reluctant to keep calling people for answers. When I did actually call someone it was not painful; they felt uncomfortable about their club's issues but didn't actually have any answers so what was gained?
This experience is part of what I'm trying to learn.

Imp got home ok but very hungry. We're still friends.

I've notice Shadow is not barfing. Due to her dental surgery I have not been setting out dry food where she can reach it; it's strictly pate' for her! She wolfs that down enthusiastically and the daily barfing of partly digested dry food has ceased. I think I'd best stick with this policy, for her health and my sanity.

Arthur still wants midnight feeding, but he seems happy to have a scoop of dry food on the window shelf in my bedroom, which Shadow never goes. Living with 4 cats is complex!

You Can't Say Both

The only reasonable way to feel is that both police brutality and rioting are wrong.

What I Saw On My Walk

Heron Statue Atop House

Most Important Book!
Stone Creek Glass Fish
West Seattle Construction Site
I had switch phone service to "Ting" on the strength of a recommendation and then promotional materials saying its pay-as-you-go service costs customers typically $23/month. My first month was $70 and I don't know why; it seemed to be using wifi at home but there were several gig used away from home. The CSR gave me a credit and we tinkered with phone settings. I will continue to experiment but will probably rate this a failure ... just not yet.
Hey! I got another email about applying for a COBOL job ... this one in Helena MT. Whenever I reply to these, I never get anything back so I assume someone is just filling a quota or something.

Bad Ghostbusters reboot; do not recommend.

I am staying away from the RNC, mostly because I don't want to inflate their viewing numbers but also because I have better things to do that watch the rise of fascism. I'll let the news tell me if anything noteworthy happened.
And this happened, so I made a joke:
I have been doing a few political memes, more to amuse myself than with any hope of making a difference. I suppose keeping moral up is worth a little time.
I got an email from the union saying the evacuation order continues, so - no change in my status. It's an odd life but we're all doing our best.

New Cat In The Hood

This is a new cat in the neighborhood. It seems well cared for, not hungry or fearful. It let me pet it and pick it up briefly; it's about the same weight as Arthur, so maybe 6 pounds although it seems young and may still be growing. Charles confirmed this is the cat he saw interacting with Ginny the other day. Today Imp was less impressed, sitting and watching and when New Cat approached, even showing her teeth and hissing - which I rarely see.
My continuing conversation with LinkedIn continues. Recently someone gave me a URL that ended in a right parenthesis. When it was posted it in LinkedIn, the URL was resolved excluding the right parenthesis from the hotlink! I was able to achieve my intent by manually adding the character to the address line when I clicked on the link, but this was an interesting problem that I sent to their "Help". After a lot of back-and-forth they escalated it and are working on it. Who knows, I may be part of solving a small problem just by noticing!

Birthday Blair Parade

Today our neighbor Blair turned 65. There can't be a party due to COVID19 so his very creative wife put a card on a table on the sidewalk by their patio, where we chatted through the fence. It was something anyway.

I had a short walk today and noticed that many houses in my neighborhood is on a slope, giving opportunities to go beyond a mere lawn sign
