Giving A Genuine Complement

The other day, Yoga With Kassandra suggested giving a sincere complement to someone I did not like ===>>> truthfully telling them about a good quality they have.

Naturally I would not do this with someone who is abusive, but there are plenty of people on the internet who might otherwise qualify. The internet seems to promote negative interactions, because any interaction is an interaction and sells ad space ... but I digress...

I was having a "sharp" conversation with someone on facebook who I don't really like - no need for details. Instead of responding to their latest meme with the retort they expected (and probably enjoy), I stopped, took a VERY deep breath, and wrote: "One thing I respect about you is that while we disagree on most things, you don't cut people off for disagreeing with you; also you don't use potty words, so that's two things."

So far I have not heard back from the person. They may have cut me off or perhaps they are thinking it over.

Either way, I am still processing why I feel good about this, but making the effort was an accomplishment.
