Hello Fresh Free Sample

Here's my Hello Fresh free sample: there's nothing really wrong with the food or recipe (except it required 3 pans and a cookie sheet, which is way too fussy for me! And all those little packets ...)
Overall the regular price seems a bit high for a meal. Who doesn't keep potatoes, carrots, a garlic, flour, sour cream on hand?
OTOH I understand some ppl make enough $$ that it's economically rational to have a personal shopping service like this, and good for them. If they want the experience of cooking without the experience of shopping, well, this harms no one.
But .... An individually wrapped clove of garlic?
What are you going to do when the vampires attack????

Happy Thanksgiving! What I saw on the traditional walk around the neighborhood ...

Interesting succulents are a great way to fill in the spaces between the boulders that form walls that level out many home lots (not mine). Plus they displace those invasive blackberry and ivy!
This raised bed is a good way to use a parking space (although why did they leave the grass border? It's just one more thing to maintain) but what is that ground cover?
Some kid lost his or her scissors on the sidewalk. I stuck them on the nearest fence; maybe they'll find them.
The sun shining through the red leaves!
Not sure what these are, but I found it interesting that they seemed to ripen by getting paler. Like me haha!
Dropping off a DVD at the library was the ostensible purpose of the walk. They rebuilt this one a few years ago and it's great - notice the large north windows that make it very nicely lit inside. (Closed today of course)
Someone lost their costume glass snake tail (probably Halloween, or maybe a bike helmet decoration?). Unlike real glass snakes, this one has velco for easy re-attachment.
I took a different route home, and was rewarded by seeing this old wagon
Water control is very important around here. This is part of a belt of natural area with ponds.
If you want to know more about this Greenway you can expand this picture, or just use the google machine
Kale is not only tasty, it's fun to look at and tolerates our winters well!
Someone on the street two blocks over has a wonderful crop of rose hips!
I brought a bag on my walk and collected - why it must be 50 cents worth of aluminum!
I'm unsure about that diet Vernor's can. Real Vernor's is great, but diet soda is like kissing a zombie.

It's not Thanksgiving until you hear this!

The more you look, the more you see

My project to take a photo a day helps me look for the beautiful and the interesting

Trump Thinks You're A Chump

All these years you've been paying your land taxes honestly. When the time came to get a loan based on the land value, you gave the bank honest information. I guess we've all been doing it wrong.

Upgrading to one of these!

I don't know who did this, but it made me laugh!

That Uplifting Tweet You Just Shared? A Russian Troll Sent It

News from the information wars - which we are losing because we don't acknowledge it:
"Professional trolls, on the other hand, are the tip of the spear in the new digital, ideological battleground. To combat the threat they pose, we must first understand them — and take them seriously...."

Spooky apparition at my bus stop!

What with the time change, seasonal dieback of plants, and shortening days, it's hard to get a fresh, natural light photo in the morning while waiting for the bush. The flash does things!
Every now and then, a comic idea appears and I experiment with a cartoon editor on my cellphone.

Arthur watching "The Attack Of The Giant Squirrel"

My cats love my new TV way more that I do. I wonder if they perceive the relative size of the images as we humans do, or do they see these images as being actual creatures - in which case this squirrel is GIGANTIC and this is sort of a monster movie to Arthur.
