Line Drying!

If you've never line-dried your clothes, you're missing a treat! That fresh-and-breezy smell your dryer sheets or other additives try for cannot compare to the real thing.

There are of course environmental and economic benefits to line drying; also the rhythm of putting up and taking down is meditative. Finally, I plant mint around my line for an extra burst of delight. Try it!

True Story: Love and Fleas

TRUE STORY: The first home I ever owned was a house trailer behind a package store in East Lansing. I did not have money for furniture but that was okay because my girlfriend ( Sheryl Cole ) and I were accustomed to sleeping on carpeted floors. When you're born poor you learn to get by on love.
Unfortunately the previous owner, who gave us a really good deal, had cats with fleas. Some of them must have hid in the carpet because in the middle of the night they all jumped on her (and ignored me - I suppose I did not smell as sweet). I still recall her saying "Randy, these fleas are eating me alive!"
My intention was to say something helpful and supportive, such as "Surely we must obtain the means to kill all those fleas!"
The words that came out of my mouth were, "You need a flea collar."

It must have been true love, because I didn't wake up dead ;-)

How do YOU organize documents on your Android

On FB I asked

"DEAR HIVEMIND: How do YOU organize documents on your Android device? I have about 4 categories of documents I need to review on the bus; each category would get its own folder but I don't see how to do that on my fancy new Android tablet. Do I have to download an app - this isn't native? And what app do you prefer?"

Answers

• I'm no help at all. I only stream on my Android. 
• I use Google Drive, which is where I store everything anyway. That way I don’t have to reorganize everything, just access the cloud. 
• Another option is Evernote (https://www.evernote.com) which keeps track of all kinds of information if you want it to. Adding documents in folders (notebooks) is simple and straightforward.

Apples Are Coming

They're small, but they're coming - apples on my tree!
I have to cull some because the tree's not strong enough to bear all the fruit it produces. That's ok - these small ones are tart rather than sweet but go nicely slice in salad or on oatmeal. Yum!

Smoothie Berries

Can't remember which berry this is - Kat calls them Oregon grapes. It's not sweet but goes ok in smoothies. Harvest time over the next few weeks!
