I just finished, and thoroughly enjoyed, Scalzi's "Lock In".
You could read it for the SF murder mystery, or you could read it for the thoughts on disability and technology, but honestly I mostly enjoyed it for the dialogue.
Scalzi is justly famous for his "Old Man's War" series (joyful extension of "Starship Troopers" or grim exploration of imperialism?) and the hilarious and thoughtful "Red Shirts" (parody of "Star Trek" or exploration of how to write characters?).
Here he tells a multilayered mystery ranging across the physical world and an infosphere constructed for the disabled, mostly through banter between the canonical rookie cop and cynical veteran.
You might have to stop and refresh your brain from time to time, but don't worry, the story is worth it!
