Body Pump and Scruffi

After yet another wonderful "Body Pump" class at the Y - in which I am gaining confidence in my ability to push myself far enough to improve without injury - but still having difficulties with lunges - at Inge's request I stopped at her place to reassure her dog Scruffi that all was well with the world, no need for existential despair.

Mostly the dog looked at me, then went to her rug and slept. That's a good thing to do at that time of day, so after hanging out checking stuff on my cellphone, I went home of a nap myself. Body Pump is exhausting! in a good way.

Scot the Pine gets service!

This is Scot the Pine, bringer of shade
and home to many birds and squirrels.
Unfortunately, Scot was topped and developed 3 asymmetrical trunks,
and many dead branches,
which creak alarmingly during storms.

Thursday morning, the crew arrived.

They protected the lamp
and the little free library.
Notice the many big dead branches.

The crew removed the dead stuff.
The bigger piece I am reusing
to delineate garden paths and margins.
Nothing is wasted when you recycle on site!

The small stuff is chipped for garden paths.
Eventually it will nourish the soil and Scot!

If you look sharp, you can see where
the crew added cables to eyebolts
connecting the 3 trunks for safety

Scot is now free of the deadwood
and much safer in storms,
and continues to provide
 a home to critters
and shade to all.

Thank you crew!

Poet Tree and C&P Coffee

I saw this at C&P Coffee while doing Get-Out-The-Vote postcarding with friends.

I did not thing of the clever Poet-Tree quip but when I posted this photo on Facebook, someone responded to this with that, which I suppose shows a value of a daily post inviting comment.
